Save the Date! ACMF 2024: August 14th-18th
Peter grew up in Hertfordshire and read music at Cambridge graduating with a double first class degree. He then studied as a postgraduate at the Royal Academy of Music receiving the dipRAM for his outstanding final performance exam. His studies continued at the conservatoires in Hanover and Rostock during which time he won the position of principal oboe with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. After relocating to Great Britain several years later, Peter was appointed co-principal oboe with Britten Sinfonia and regularly appears as guest principal oboe with many UK orchestras including the Royal Opera House, London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Northern Sinfonia. He regularly gives solo recitals across the UK, often with pianist and Cambridge alumnus Richard Uttley.
Peter is also a composer and arranger and is published by Universal Edition. He was a recent prize winner in the Aglaia composition awards and his solo oboe composition ‘The Praying Mantis’ was performed in the semifinals of BBC Young Musician. In 2019, Peter was honoured to be made an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music.
